The area surrounding Dormio Resort Les Portes Du Mont Blanc, with its deep green hills and snow-white mountain tops, is breathtaking all year round. Vallorcine is a quiet, charming mountain village in the Chamonix Valley. It is concealed behind Col des Montets, at the foot of Mont Blanc, and the surrounding area offers spectacular skiing, walking and natural beauty. Vallorcine is on the Swiss border and has been able to preserve the authentic atmosphere of a true mountain village. In the surrounding area you will find several cosy restaurants, speciality shops, great activities, spectacular ski areas and beautiful views. Explore the beautiful surroundings from Aiguille du Midi viewpoint
The French Alps have a beautiful natural landscape with impressive views. Mont Blanc, with an altitude of 4,808 metres, is the absolute high point of the French Alps! Perhaps the most striking viewpoint in this area is Aiguille du Midi, which offers spectacular views of Mont Blanc and Italy. A brisk, long walk will take you to this viewpoint, or you can take the cable car, which goes steeply up the mountainside. The route to the highest point is quite an experience in itself. Are you a true daredevil? Go and have a look in the glass cube, where you can look down 1,000 metres through a glass floor!
Enjoy the charming town of Chamonix
Chamonix is a vibrant town at the foot of Mont Blanc and is a must for mountain lovers. It is situated close to our resort and is known as the alpine capital of the world. Go for a walk in the charming town centre along historic buildings and palaces or visit the activity park, where you can enjoy the toboggan runs and climbing walls with the whole family. Sampling a tasty Rablochonade is highly recommended for cheese lovers. This is a delicious raclette using the famous regional cheese, which you can also buy in one of the many shops. As a guest of our resort you will travel free to and from Chamonix by train; the station is next to the entrance to our resort. Perfect for a day out!

There are a number of special UNESCO world heritage sites in the vicinity of Dormio Resort Les Portes Du Mont Blanc, such as the creative masterpieces of Le Corbusier. These beautiful buildings show global developments in architecture. You can also visit the beautiful Sainte-Marie de La Tourette priory, which was completed in 1960. Nearby, you will find the striking Maison de la Culture de Firminy, which is now used as a cultural centre. These special sights are definitely worth a visit during your stay in Vallorcine!

The beautiful town of Annecy is sometimes referred to as “the Venice of the Alps” or “the Pearl of the Alps.” It takes about 1.5 hours to get there by car from our resort. Annecy is situated in a beautiful environment in amongst the mountains by the famous Lac d’Annecy. Its clear water and the impressive mountain landscape make this lake picture perfect all year round. The mediaeval town centre of Annecy has all kinds of beautiful sights you can admire and is an absolute must-see!

The large city of Geneva in Switzerland is a 1.5-hour drive from Dormio Resort Les Portes Du Mont Blanc. This unique city and its surroundings have many beautiful sights, such as the St Pierre Cathedral, Place du Bourg du Four, the Jet d’Eau fountain and Parc des Bastions. This beautiful city is definitely worth a visit during your wonderful holiday in the French Alps!
Hike to Cascade de Bérard
Combine a great hike through an area of natural beauty with a visit to a spectacular waterfall! Follow the trail to Cascade de Bérard on the Aiguilles Rouges. You will pass the small village of La Poya and walk across a large footbridge across the water. Cascade de Bérard is a must-see for both young and old during your stay in Vallorcine.
