Benidorm

Benidorm

The former fishing village of Benidorm has developed into a very large seaside resort with an impressive skyline. Millions of tourists spend their summer holiday here each year. Outside the summer season there are many tourists who spend the winter here because of its very mild climate. What makes Benidorm so popular is the ideal combination of the vibrant nightlife and the wide sandy beaches, which can be reached from the town centre on foot.

Villajoyosa

Visit the picturesque village of Villajoyosa with its charming coloured fisherman’s houses! These distinctive houses were painted in a whole range of pastel colours to show fishermen the place they should head for. At the beginning of the 17th century, Villajoyosa also played an important part in defending the coastline against pirates. You can still admire the remains of the city walls and watchtowers. The village also has a rich history in the chocolate industry, and it is therefore referred to as a chocolate heaven on the Costa Blanca! This attractive village is also known for its beautiful coastline, with a large but quiet sandy beach.

The pirate island of Tabarca

The pirate island of Tabarca

Take the boat to the smallest inhabited island of Spain from the harbour in Benidorm or the Muelle de Poniente in Alicante. Tabarca has approximately 50 residents and is only 1,800 metres long and 400 metres wide. Tabarca stands for azure blue seas, beautiful vistas and colourful fisherman’s houses. From May to October a glass-bottom boat departs daily from the marina to the island. A great island adventure for young and old!

Visit a local market

You will find markets with local products in each village along the Costa Blanca. The daily flea market in the village of Jalón, 40 kilometres north of Benidorm, is highly recommended. Antiques, bric-à-brac and art make up the bulk of what is on offer. You can also taste delicious wines. In Moraira, next to Avenida de Madrid, there is a large market each Friday, with something to suit everyone. Useful to know: there is free parking right beside this market.
